Pindo (Jelly) Palm (Butia capitata)


  • Native to South American dry woodlands
  • Height 15’-25’ – 10’-15’ spread, slow growing
  • Orange-yellow edible fruits ripen in summer, often used to make jellies
  • Salt & drought tolerant, but enjoys regular waterings
  • Prefers sandy, well drained soil
  • Likes full to part sun (fronds grow longer with less sun)
  • Hardy zones 8-9 – 10ºF
